The Power of Writing Your Thoughts
There are multiple reasons to put your thoughts in writing. As a nocturnal individual, my unrestrained imagination only starts to kick in as dusk begins to unfold. Sometimes ideas flow freely while I’m in the shower too, or when I start to hear raindrops falling heavily in my garden and I can smell the fresh scent of wet soil. It is kind of depressing when you sleep your ideas off and you fail to remember those wonderful things you imagined the day before. Writing is also a form of therapy for me, as it helps express how I feel without being self-destructive. When I feel down, I write about all the events that has led me to the current situation, save it and then sleep. On the next day, I open the file and read what I wrote and try to re-assess myself in a calm disposition. This way, I am able to deal with my issues and determine the steps that is needed to come up with a solution. Here are other reasons why jotting down your thoughts can help improve your lifestyle:
You might be the next best-selling author
Most famous writers started out as normal beings who scribbled their sentiments down as a hobby. Then they found a deeper meaning and turned it into a story and shared it to the world. So, never underestimate yourself and your power to touch other people’s lives through your testimonies. For you will never know, one day a known publisher may knock on your door, inquiring if they could print your work. Don’t stop believing and stay remarkably candid.
It attracts positive mojo
When you write about something good, it keeps you dwelling on the positive feeling. Your thoughts in words do give you a fresh angle on the way things are going as you read it. Jot down the affirmative events that have happened during the day, no matter how mundane it might be, and see how fast it inspires you to do better next time.
It helps clear your mind
During the day, we may experience unpleasant circumstances that can hinder our personal growth. Do yourself a favor by jotting down your thoughts and feelings as this will allow you to see a different outlook later on and decide with better conviction.
It will enhance your focus
The law of attraction states that if you list down your thoughts, it allows you to create your own reality as you read it everyday and remind yourself of your goals. It also helps you determine your ability to steer clear of possible setbacks you might encounter to see it through. Possessing a deep knowledge about yourself develops a compelling sense of focus that will help you bring out your true self, which also gives you the edge to develop more effective decisions.
It allows you to be more organized
Writing about the things you want to do can help you become more efficient in achieving your daily goals. It enables you to determine which needs more attention in your list of priorities, and review its cause and effect if you prioritize one thing over the other. Hence, it will also liberate your time management skills and it might surprise you to find an extra hour during the day to take a break from everything.
Your memory is like a sieve
If you’re suffering from short-term memory loss like me, then it’s more than enough reason that you save your ideas as soon as you can. Like I said, if I’ve thought about anything that I should do or wanted to do later on, I write it down right away either in my phone’s notes, a piece of paper that I tuck in my purse, or my laptop. It is comforting knowing that I have it saved and I can return to it anytime. Especially the essential matters that needs to be discussed or decided with the key people in my life.
Nevertheless, writing is not just about expressing an intense emotion in paper, but rather, it’s a profound experience as we get to uncover parts of ourselves we never new existed. Amaze yourself with how far your imagination can go and let me know what feelings has been evoked within you as you write.
